About the Lake
Lake of the Woods is located in Van Buren County, Michigan, adjacent to the Village of Decatur and in the townships of Hamilton and Decatur.
It is approximately 300 acres in size and is a full recreational lake, with fishing, boating, swimming, sailing, water skiing, and jet skiing. There are approximately 280 homes on the lake that are both year round and seasonal.There are two recreational campgrounds: Timber Trails RV Park (http://www.timbertrailsrvpark.com/) and Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods Camp (http://www.lwcgwc.com/)
In July of 1980, Warren Grosvenor, along with other homeowners on the lake, formed what is now called the Lake of The Woods Improvement Association to improve the quality of the lake and it's natural resources. All lake residents are eligible to join the Association.
