July 4th Fireworks BIGGEST YET !!!!!!6/27/2019 The Village of Decatur's Fireworks show will be held on July 4th at 10:00 PM (with a rain date of July 5th). The launch location has moved slightly, but is in, roughly, the same approximate location as last year on the NE side of Lake of the Woods. The new site will permit us to launch 8" and 10" shells for the first time (we have been limited to 6" in prior years). As such, it should be the biggest and grandest show we've held yet. We'd also like to take a moment to thank all of our sponsors for this year. Those donations make this show possible and we truly appreciate our local businesses helping us put on a great show for the residents and visitors of our community. We hope everyone enjoys this year's show! And don't forget the boat parade starting at 6:00 pm

Buoys & Signs6/20/2019 Here is an update on our buoys and signs on the lake. There are numerous buoys and signs that had to be replaced this year. Last November our association worked with Hamilton Township on replacing these items. Permits had to be filed with various entities for these items to be placed on the lake. An order for these new items was placed last May and we just received word that they are being shipped this coming Monday from Wisconsin. Shortly after that, Highs Marine is going to schedule the placing of these buoys and signs on our lake. Until then unfortunately there have not been any no wake or shallow buoys to be seen. The township and the sheriff have been receiving numerous complaints and we have been told that the sheriff will be having additional help on the lake. Everyone should be aware that the same areas, as in the past years, are where the buoys and markers will be placed. NO WAKE ZONES, are by the public launch ramp going into the bay area, the island, entrances to each channel, and the far east side of the lake along the houses in the channel. SHALLOW AREAS are located by the island, and just to the left of the campground. Enjoy our lake and have a safe time.

Tornado Warnings6/8/2019 Lake residents should be aware that there is no tornado warning system (siren) in this area. Nor are there any designated tornado shelters.
You can, however, get weather alerts from weather apps on your cell phones. Also Channel 3 in Kalamazoo offers weather alerts for some cell phone providers. Emergency weather alert radios are available at Walmart & other stores for $25-$50 depending on features. |
