Snowbirds, Residents please read10/31/2017 Sad to say, but its that time of year again when some of us head to where its warmer, and some of us do not come to the cottage that often in the winter months. SO PLEASE READ BELOW!!!
The Van Buren County Sheriffs website now has a link to add your house to their watch list. Please note that this is for homes in areas regularly patrolled by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office. If you do not live in an area patrolled by Van Buren County Deputies, please contact your local police department to have your home placed on their watch list. This is an excellent program offered to us in Van Buren County for absolutely no charge. In the spring when your house is off the watch list, the sheriff will usually call you and tell you how many times your house was visited by them. You will be amazed when you hear how many visits they made to check on your house. Here is the direct website. Just click here: http://www.vanburencountysheriff.com/10-24-2014watch.htm LOWIA

BIG BONUS for LOW10/27/2017 Want to let all our members know whats happening on LOW. Again, the PNA fishing club out of South Bend Indiana has decided to stock our lake agin with walleye. This will be the second time in less than a year and half that PNA will be stocking our lake. Their club decided to spend half of the clubs budget on walleye for our lake. Yesterday (thursday) at around 3-4 pm 6-8 inch walleye, fall fingerlings went into LOW. Those size fingerlings have the best chance of surviving. Here are some recent stockings of walleye in our lake. October 2016, PNA stocked walleye (600), May 2017 DNR stocked walleye (16,000), October 2017, PNA stocked walleye (580). Lets all give the Michigan DNR and PNA club a very much appreciated THANK YOU.

End of summer LOW weed update10/5/2017 PLM completed all the water quality sampling but does not have the results
yet. Their water quality person, usually compiles all the data in the fall and issues the reports around late November. In regards to the PLM weed survey, the good news is that they did not find any milfoil. Next year they anticipate that the lake will need little in regards to milfoil and most of the focus will likely be on addressing Starry stonewort. We will post the fall report as soon as we receive it. |
