Extinguishers should be placed in an accessible area where they can be reached immediately and not near the engine or in a compartment. Be sure you know how to operate the extinguisher and inspect extinguishers regularly to ensure they are in working condition and that they are fully charged and ready for use.

It really helped when you said that we need to have fire extinguishers for the boat gas tank, and they have to be approved as Marine Type USCG with symbols and the approval number. I will mention this to my husband because he plans to get the old vessel of his dad fixed and have a new gas tank installed to make it run again. And I think that getting the right safety equipment once it starts running will be for the well-being of my husband, especially when it is the first time he will be using it.
