ICE FISHING RESCUE UPDATE

After reaching out to Hamilton Township supervisor Carl Druskovich in regards to what happened to the two ice fishermen yesterday on the small channel,. Here is the response from Mr. Druskovich.

On Thursday two ice fisherman park at XXXXXXXXX and went on small channel- The person who lives at end of the channel saw them and knew it was going to be a bad decision as he fished the channel the day before and the ice was bad-so grabbed his life ring and rope he keeps on hand - when he arrived both men had gone through the ice with the tall slender man able to self rescue and roll to shore but the short heavy set man was in distress and on the second throw from Mr XXXXXXX, he was able to grab the life ring - assistant fire chief Tom Bush was on scene in his unmarked truck within 8 minutes of dispatch and aided Mr. XXXXXXX and pulled him to shore-both men refused EMS service and EMS response hence in route were called off as well as fire ice rescue response- both men were going to attempt to retrieve gear and Mr. Bush called for our ice rescue from fire station again and they arrived to retrieve the gear -both men left the scene after that - hopefully that answers your concerns -
