Per the State of Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services recommendation, we wanted to advise all residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites as four additional cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) have been confirmed in SW Michigan-including two that were fatal. Counties affected so far include Barry, Cass, and Van Buren along with previously identified cases in Kalamazoo and Berrien. The attached flyer provides some tips to help keep your family and yourself safe. We strongly encourage all residents to utilize mosquito repellent while outdoors and exercise additional caution or consider postponing or rescheduling outdoor activities, particularly those involving children, during the peak biting hours from dusk to dawn.
